1st Way: Disk Cleanup
Start ~ All Programs ~ Accessories ~ System Tools ~ Disk Cleanup (3rd One Down).
More Information- The Disk Cleanup program is a computer tool (Included in Microsoft Windows XP) designed to help free up space on computer users’ hard drive. It cleans out all the old and unnecessary files that may be lingering in any of your computer’s drives.
2nd Way: Disk Checkup
My Computer ~ Right-Click on C: Drive ~ Properties ~ Tools Tab ~ Under “Error-Checking”, click Check Now ~ Check the Second Option and click Start.
More Information- As you use your hard drive more and more over time, it can develop bad sectors. Bad sectors slow down disk performance and sometimes make data writing (Such as file saving) difficult, or at times, virtually impossible. The “Error Checking” program scans your hard drive for bad sectors, and also scans it for file system errors to see whether certain files or folders are misplaced.
If you use your computer daily, you should run this program at least once a week to help prevent any loss of data.

And remember that this is only for english windows, because i tried it on a french computer and it looked like a windows 98…

You should add a …
You should add a new way to make it faster, i know that many people know it, but i just want to help so:
First, go to control pannel. Then double click on system. Click on the Advanced button and then open the first one (named Performance). Then in the visual effects check the custom bubble and then remove all the checks except the last two. This removes the windows special effects like when you minimize a web browser it wont pop some blue lines. This makes your computer a lot faster.
