Upload HTML files to webspace?

Wednesday, March 10th, 2010

I bought a domain at Domain.com and I am also hosting my domain there as well. I am somewhat new at this. I’ve built my web page and now I’m trying to upload it t webspace, but when I upload my files, it doesn’t show up on my website. I don’t know if they’re some settings I need to change first in order to enable the webspace to start showing my files or what.

Any help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

If it has been a new set up and at least 48 hours hasn’t gone by, your site hasn’t been picked up by the servers. You need to make sure your nameservers have been set to point to your new domain name.

How do you prevent an HTML file from being copied?

Saturday, March 6th, 2010

Does anybody know how to prevent copying and pasting of an HTML file? I’m writing a story in HTML and i dont want it to get stolen. I already tried a code to prevent right clicking but i still dont want it to get stolen cuz i can still highlight it and control c and v. SO how do i keep people from copying and pasting my files? Please Help and answer asap. THANKS in advance.:)

There is now way you can prevent people from copying text from a website (code – yes in some cases, but not text).
You can use services such as copyscape.com to find out if people are copying your text or simply make the text into an image and post the image instead – this way no one can copy paste it.

Good luck :)

Trying to open deleted .html files recovered with a file recovery tool.?

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

When I open them I only see a bunch of "code looking" text and an occasional picture. Some of the files I am trying to view show the actual web page but all have the "code text". I am a noice and would like advice on how to "decode" the text I am seeing. Can anyone help?

and you are opening them with what program? because if you are using a text editor to view them, it is very plausible that this one is set to show the "code" view of the page, not in WYSYWIG mode.

or, if you are viewing them in an internet browser (like Mozilla, Internet explorer, Opera a.s.o.), there may be another thing impeding them to open correctly: the text was slightly altered during the undelete process (if the file was partially overwritten during its deletion, the original text is lost and replaced – partially – by something else). then you will see it most likely like an unformatted text file (code-looking, as you describe it). it might help to open it in a text editor and try to correct the altered lines.
but this will work only for simple HTML coded pages, not those bulky ones with java, CSS, flash animations, different applets and so on… below are a couple of links to some HTML explaining sites, if that may be of interest.

how to read ebook/html/.txt files in black berry curve?

Sunday, February 28th, 2010

I tried mobireader but it does not want to work.. it was saying something about rebooting and the version of the blackberry might not support 3rd party stuffs….

HELP please!

PLease help me view pdf files, notepad files or html files!

You can open text files by going into your Media Icon, hit your menu button and select Explore. Locate where you stored the text document and open it.

To open a .pdf file, use BeamReader.

If you upgrade to OS v4.5, it will install Documents to Go which includes Slideshow to Go (.ppt files) and Word to Go (.doc, .txt.) If you want these + other upgrades to your phone, connect it to your PC via the USB cable provided and follow the second link.

HTML help????

Friday, February 26th, 2010

my friend and i are starting a website and we are learning introduction to HTML. we opened notepad and this is the next instruction::

In OSX start TextEdit and change the following preferences: Open the the "Format" menu and select "Plain text" instead of "Rich text". Then open the "Preferences" window under the "Text Edit" menu and select "Ignore rich text commands in HTML files". Your HTML code will probably not work if you do not change the preferences above!

we’re not exactly sure how to do this. can anyone explain it in steps for us?? thanks so much!

Those instructions only apply if are using a Mac. If you’re using notepad on a PC, you won’t have to worry about that. To be completely honest, you don’t even need to convert the format…if you’re using notepad, I’m 99% convinced that any HTML tagging will work correctly.

How to open rar.html files?

Wednesday, February 24th, 2010

I am not able to open rar.html file (video archive of about 8 linked files). I tried to change the file extension – it didnt open. I tried using quickpar and it still didnt work. I am 100/100 sure that it is not a virus infected file. It happens in all cases that I am only able to open only the 1st part of the 8-part file archive. I am sure it is not corrupt as MD5 check was ok. Please please help. Many thanks in advance.
of course I have winrar! but it cant open the "rar.html" format.
I have winzip aswell! it is does the same job as winrar!!

Try googling WinRar. Download it and unzip.

I am having a hard time uploading my notepad html files to my website.?

Monday, February 22nd, 2010

I downloaded filezilla and it definetly shows all of my files. I purchased a site from yahoo. Do I transfer them to the remote site? If so, it keeps saying unsuccessful. I really don’t know what I’m doing…help! Please.

Yes, you have to transfer them to the remote site (often just by dragging them from the local "pane" to the remote "pane", or there may be an arrow pointing from the local to the remote),

A couple of things to check :-

1. Are you actually connected to the remote server (username and password are correct).

2. Are you putting the files in the right area on the remote server.

Hope this helps.

Uploading HTML files to GoDaddy Help?

Saturday, February 20th, 2010

I just got done coding a website in html on my notepad/wordpad. What step by step process do I need to follow to be able to upload my html files to my godaddy domain. Do I need a ftp? web server? Hosting? Im lost on what to do. When I upload do I need to compress my folder? If anyone can help me. THANKS.

FTP is the easiest and the quickest. Free FileZilla is a good FTP program. Let the FTP program handle the files. Leave it so it knows which method to use when uploading an html or image file.

You do need hosting if you don’t have it already with godaddy.
