How do you make a home video from a standard video camera to DVD format?

i already managed to capture the video and edit it but no i need to…
1) Output the video in the right format for DVD(MPEG2)
2) Author the DVD(create chapters, menus etc and compile the files) <–not sure if i need that step
3)Burn it to DVD in the right fromate (UDF)

PS: It’s for a PROJECT DUE TOMORROW!

    Use a DvD authoring application, like Nero … or some free ones:
    DvD Flick, Burn for Free, Vista bundled DvDmaker

    DvD files are .ifo (contains the chapters and other info), .bup and .vob the video file
